Caring for Yourself Between Sessions
Simple habits that help dialysis work better and keep you feeling as well as possible.
Follow Your Dietary Restrictions
Your nephrologist will advise on limiting certain foods like those high in potassium, phosphorus, and sodium. Following your diet helps make dialysis more effective.
Take Medications as Prescribed
Never skip or adjust dialysis-related medications without consulting your doctor. Keep an updated list of medications to share with our nursing staff.
Monitor Your Fluid Intake
Limiting fluid intake between sessions helps prevent fluid overload. Your care team will advise you on your personal fluid allowance.
Attend All Scheduled Sessions
Consistency is important in dialysis. Missing sessions can lead to serious complications. If you need to reschedule, please contact us as early as possible.
